The Eternal Assurance of Faith – Bishop Linus Midalla

In our journey of faith, we must understand that our lives transcend the present government and circumstances. It doesn’t matter whether a Muslim or a Christian is the governor or president. What truly matters is who we carry inside us. It is God who makes the difference. Hallelujah!

Regardless of the leadership in place, be it a Christian governor or a pagan governor, they cannot dictate the course of our lives. Our existence is completely sold out to Jesus. Hallelujah! We are sold out. Ladies and gentlemen, when you make God your all and all, He will not allow anyone to play with your destiny. The One we serve is greater and bigger than the challenges we face. As we worship, we lift Him high above our circumstances, above lack, above sickness, and above every form of adversity. We are not just passing time; we are worshiping and giving Him praise in the beauty of His holiness. Can you just ascribe greatness to Him with the fruit of your lips? Lift Him up. Jesus Christ, bless His name.

One of our challenges as believers is our tendency to calculate how God should act. We want to see things happen in a certain way, but His thoughts are not our thoughts, and His ways are not our ways. The most important thing is to put our trust in Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” When there’s no food at home, acknowledge God as the provider. When things aren’t working, acknowledge God as the one who gives direction. You cannot pray amiss when you pray in tongues; God Almighty will show up for you.

In times of need, we are often quick to seek help from others, scrolling through our phones for contacts to text. However, there comes a time when we need to pretend we don’t have a phone or anyone around and look solely to God for help. We need to fix our eyes on Him and trust that He can handle our situations. As 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 says, “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”

Even though we may be facing challenges, our inward man is being renewed. We must always listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Just as Mary told the disciples at the wedding in Cana, “Whatever He tells you to do, do it.” The Holy Spirit might prompt us to take seemingly strange actions, but obedience can lead to miraculous outcomes.

Our afflictions are temporary. When there’s no money in your pocket, it is temporary. When there’s no food at home, it is temporary. We should not make permanent decisions based on temporary situations. Everything we see around us is temporary. The current governor or president is temporary. But the things that are unseen, the promises of God, are eternal.

Hebrews 4:12 tells us that the word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword. Let the word of God be the final authority over our lives. Our temporary troubles are working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. Everything that happens is working together for our good, as Romans 8:28 assures us.

As believers, we must learn to shut out distractions and allow God’s genuine voice to direct us. Social media and people’s voices can drown out His voice. Instead, let’s focus on what God has said concerning us. By His stripes, we are healed. Let us continually say, “The Lord be magnified, who takes pleasure in my prosperity.”

Some of us need to repent for magnifying the devil’s works in our lives. We must pretend as if the devil does not exist, focusing instead on the eternal promises of God. Let us rejoice in what the Lord has said to us and trust in His eternal assurance. Amen.
